Add A View

Add A View

It can become quite a burden to zoom in, add a few pixels, zoom out to see if it looks good, and then zoom in to change something again, etc. Therefore, it’s a lot easier using the feature “Add a View” in PhotoImpact, which shows the actual size and one view zoomed in at the same time. With the page you scribbled on a few minutes ago still opened, click on View / Add a View on the menu bar.

With your image opened, click View / Add a View on your menu bar. A copy of the image opens in the Document Manager at the bottom of the screen. I find it helpful to see a smaller view because it's hard sometimes when you're zoomed right in at say 1200% to keep your bearings (and zooming in and out can get frustrating).

Document Manager

Open the “Document Manager” by clicking on the "Show or hide Document Manager" icon or Window / Panels / Document Manager or you can press the key F7 to open the Manager.

Now you have a duplicated image in the window of your Document Manager view. Both images are exactly the same.

Leave the 1st one at 100% and Click on the second one and increase the zoom level to your desired view. You can start with 800% and if it’s too small increase your zoom. This will be the size you will work on.

To increase the thumbnail size on the Document Manager, click on the last button right above the pictures next to the sort button.

All your work you do on your zoomed view will be updated on your smaller view. You can add as many views as you wish and have each one at a different zoom level. They will all be changed exactly like whichever view you’re working on.

Global View

You can access this via the Layer Managers. this will give you a rectangle around the area you're working on, which you can move around to quickly go to another part of your image. This way you don't have to scroll up and down and sideways. Plus you can zoom in and out, resizing your window in the workspace.

Also, there's yet another way to move around the magnified image. Click on the little aqua box in the lower right corner and you can move all over the image similar to the global view on the layer manager:
